finally! our first post

MANY apologies for the delay in getting this blog off the ground. We've been in Geneva for about two weeks now, but have been so busy that we've hardly had a chance to process everything that's happened, much less blog about it.

To get everyone up to speed, we arrived in Geneva on November 25th, and I started my new job at the World Health Organization the next day (more about the job later). We also spent a crazy few days looking for an apartment (the housing market here is very tight) and finally found a short-term rental in the village of Founex, 19km north of Geneva. The apartment is a bit on the small side, so we're planning to move into a bigger place closer to my work in a couple months. But for now it suits us just fine.  It's in an 18th century house (see picture above), with stone walls, a fireplace, and exposed beams.

The only other problem is the commute to and from work, which takes about an hour each way, despite the amazing Swiss public transportation system. We're looking into getting a car (it is much easier to find a car than a house), but haven't decided on anything yet. We'll also need a car for ski trips...something we hope to do very soon!

So this weekend took advantage of some down time and walked around the village. Being Sunday the town was deserted, but the scenery was amazing! Take a look at some of our other photos here.

Love, Katie & Lukie
